FAQ about Text For Free's Free Text Messaging
What is Text For Free?Text For Free is a site that offers a simple and convenient way to send short text messages (SMS) to any cellular phone in the United States from your computer!
I sent a text message from your site and it was never received, what happened?
Unfortunetely, SMS text messages may fail to be received or may be delayed for large amounts of time for various reasons, which we have no control over. If your message is very important, we recommend that you simply call the person that you wish to contact.
Is this free text messaging service free?
Text For Free does not make any money from the actual sending of the text messages. The sender's of the text messages are not charged any money, but the receiver may be charged, depending on their cell phone company. You will need to contact your phone company to find this out.
I just received a threatening text message from your site, what should I do?
First of all, don't panic. Most likely its one of your friends playing a joke on you. Still, every text message sent from Text For Free's free text messaging service logs the IP of each sender, and if we cooperate with all law enforcement investigations. Please Contact Us and we can work out a resolution for this situation.
Can I receive replies from the people I send text messages to?
As of now, you cannot receive replies from the people you send text messages to. We hope to soon enable two-way text messaging, but until then, we recommend you include your cell phone number in the message if you'd like to receive a text back.
Who owns this site?
Well, if you really must know, this site is owned by a teenager by the name of Andrew. I just decided that I was tired of spending money on text messages and that it was about time to stop paying their ridiculous fees.
What will you do with the cell phone number?
To put it simply -- nothing. We will never sell, trade, or disclose any information, because text message spamming is really dumb and annoying.
What happened to your Auto-Detect feature?
The Auto-Detect we used to have here on Text For Free was running on a third party, and they limit the amount of messages that can be sent from a particular site. Also, we didn't want to share your personal information with a third party that could possibly sell your cell number and send you advertisements. We will never allow that.
I don't see my cell phone company, what should I do?
If your cell phone company is from the United States and I do not have it on the list, please let me know. We will try to get it added as soon as humanly possible.
I just LOVE your site! How can I help out?
